DESCRIPTION

Norman Jewison fonds [textual materials, photographis materials]; circa 1970s.

Norman Jewison (1926-2024) was a Canadian director, producer, actor, and founder of the Canadian Film Centre. Jewison was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. He attended Victoria College at the University of Toronto and worked in television throughout the 1950s before moving into film. Jewison has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director three times. His best known films include "Moonstruck" (1987), "Fiddler on the Roof" (1971), "The Thomas Crown Affair" (1968), and "Jesus Christ Superstar" (1973).

Materials largely related to the casting, writing and production of F.I.S.T. (1978), which was directed by Jewison.
