George Anthony fonds [artifacts, graphic materials, posters, printed matter, textual records, video and sound recordings, and digital files], circa 1964 - 2014.

George Anthony (1940-) is a Canadian journalist, editor, television personality, author, and executive. He interviewed a great variety of entertainment personalities during his years as a print journalist for the Toronto Telegram and Toronto Sun, in addition to writing film and book columns. Anthony also did interviews and made appearances on Global Television. He was involved in the film festival scene, especially the early years of the Floating Film Festival in London. He produced and consulted on many CBC television productions, from Anne Murray specials to the "Rick Mercer Report".

Archival records created, compiled and collected George Anthony in the course of his professional career. The period represented in the fonds begins in the early 1960s with Anthony’s education at Ryerson Institute of Technology’s Journalism program, and continues to his CBC work in the early 2010s. The substantive part of the material acquired covers the period 1970 through 1990. Original textual filing order has been preserved, with files for various subject headings, individuals, and professional projects. Artifacts are primarily promotional materials for film festivals and television shows. Photographs include several personal images and snapshots, as well as, production stills and signed headshots. Sound and video recordings comprise mainly of interviews conducted by Anthony.
