John Candy fonds [printed materials, textual records, audio recordings, graphic materials, artifacts, moving images: video]; circa 1970-1990.
John Candy (1950-1994) was a Canadian actor known for his comedic roles in films such as "Uncle Buck" (1989), "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" (1987), and "Spaceballs" (1987). Born in Newmarket, Ontario Candy got his start with Second City's comedy show "SCTV" alongside other famous Canadian actors such as Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara. He won two Emmys and an ACTRA award for his writing on "SCTV". Candy was also the co-owner of the Toronto Argonauts Football Club and was heavily involved in various charity organizations. On March 4, 1994 he died from heart complications at the age of 43.
The fonds contains objects relating to John Candy's professional career and personal life from the 1970s to the early 1990s.
