Mary Pickford (1892-1979) was a Canadian-born film actress and one of the first modern Hollywood stars. One of the most prominent actors of the silent age, she was known as America’s sweetheart. Best known for her roles in "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" (1917) and "The Poor Little Rich Girl" (1917), Pickford later went on to prominence in producing and was highly influential in shaping the Hollywood system. She co-founded both Pickford-Fairbanks studio and United Artists, and was one of the founding members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Rob Brooks is a Canadian collector and classic film enthusiast who generously donated his Mary Pickford related materials to the TIFF Film Reference Library.
